meet your guide, Liora.

Heyyy! I'm Liora. Hopefully if you've made it here, you already know that!
If not, then... hi hello!! I'm glad you're here.

Becoming a career coach and strategist might seem like it started because of my experience as a recruiter... but it actually started wayyyy before that!

I've had many "career lives" — recruiter, coffee shop manager, graphic designer... and many, many jobs in-between. But throughout my entire career journey I've always had ONE common thought: I want to help people live more authentic, successful, sustainable lives.

I spent a LOT of my career feeling like I didn't belong. Feeling like I had so much to offer, and like I had a TON of untapped potential, if only people would give me a chance.

Self-employment was always on my radar ever since I learned about entrepreneurship in college. The stars finally aligned for me in March 2024 when the tech startup I was working for did a massive layoff. A few months prior I had lost my Dad in a sudden accident, and so his legacy was what inspired and motivated me to finally make the jump into self-employment. (Thanks Dad! You've always been my biggest cheerleader.)

get to know me professionally...

The first job I ever had was babysitting for my neighbors and our local UU services on Sundays... I was 11.

By 14 I worked as a server in a retirement community which was the start of well over a decade working in the food-service industry. Throughout high school, college, and well into my 20s I had a variety of positions: barista, server, bartender. I've worked at country clubs, local cafes, and hole-in-the-wall dive bars.

In classic ADHD fashion I've also had a lot of random jobs scattered throughout my career... frame shop assistant, wedding photographer assistant, insurance adjuster, Apple retail specialist, gym receptionist, Uber driver... at one point I had four jobs at once (-10000/10, do NOT recommend).

My college degree is in graphic design, and I worked in that field for awhile before it sucked the life and creativity out of me. After leaving the design world, I landed back at coffee shops, working my way from barista to supervisor to manager within a year. It was that management experience that led me to recruiting/HR, and well... if you've read this far, you know the rest!

Early Career

I spent 7+ years of my career so far as a hiring manager/recruiter in some capacity. I've interviewed and hired graphic designers, baristas, creative/marketing professionals, sales reps, engineering, HR/admin... quite a variety of folks!

Throughout my career, I would estimate I've read thousands of resumes and supported hiring efforts for hundreds of jobs. I've also developed and delivered training on inclusive hiring practices to other recruiters and interviewers

Recruiting + Hiring

My first experience as a trainer was during my barista days when I was tasked with training new hires. I loved teaching people and seeing them light up when they finally learned how to navigate the espresso machines and make a perfect latte.

I then went on to train graphic design new hires, and eventually also trained new recruiters. Throughout my entire career, the love of training has always stuck with me. When I worked for at tech startup, I helped develop inclusive hiring training and DEI programming. Now, I use my training and program development skills in my coaching!

 FAQs

  • While ideally we’re able to use all the sessions with the “normal” time frame for each program, 6 weeks for the mini-pack and 12 weeks for the 3-month program, sometimes things come up and a session will have to be rescheduled or delayed a week. For this reason, there is some buffer time before the sessions expire.

For the mini-pack, sessions expire 8 weeks after the date of purchase

For the 3-month program, sessions expire 16 weeks after the first session

  • Chat and voice support will begin the day of the first session and ends after the final session.

  • Book a Vibe Check! We’ll review your situation and goals together and can determine which option would be the most beneficial for you.

  • During the FREE Vibe Check call, we'll spend about 25-30 minutes discussing your career history, goals, and how my coaching program may support you.

I do NOT approach this as a “sales call.” My goal for this is simply for us to get to know each other a bit more, and to understand if my expertise and 1on1 program is the best fit for your goals.

  • I’m happy to accommodate! I love meeting face-to-face but I also understand that there are many reasons why an audio-only call is more accessible. You’ll just have to let me know if you want to do Zoom with cameras-off, or a phone call. And feel free to change your mind at any time, or change it up from call-to-call.

  • This program is non-refundable, but in case of emergency, please email coaching@lioraalvarez.com. Any refunds will result in an immediate removal from the program, courses, community, and resources.
